Is there anything better that opshopping in the country? They largely seem undiscovered treasure troves full of all sorts of vintage goodness... fabric, kitchen kistch, notions, all sorts of stuff.

When I walk into an opshop, and I know exactly where I'm going and what I'm looking for. I always go to the fabrics and haberdashery bits first, then the kitchen stuff, then books. A little tucked away opshop in Myrtleford (or Merfed if yer a local!) delivered recently. Look at this fabric! And the kistchy tray. It had to come home with me. God knows what I'll do with it though!

Do you have an opshopping/thrifting routine when you're on the prowl for second hand?

Yep I do. I go for bric-a-brac first, then do the doily, habby sections and then the rest.
Oh yes! But it depends on the age of the company I might be keeping! I love country op's. Some of my best and most loved bits come from op shops on the trip from WA to SA - how could you not do an opping tour enroute?!
Great finds.
I go straight to fabric and haby, then curtains/tablecloths/tea towels/bedding, then bric a brac, then clothes.... then I'm usually exhausted and my basket is full!
Trying to comment... but. still. laughing. at. Merfed! So funny :)
LOVE your fabric find - how DO you do it???
I live in a well-trawled inner-city area and there ain't nothin' good left ever! (now you've got me doin a merfed!)
Great find + great post :) K
I go straight to the haby then the books then the clothes.
I go straight to the kids toys looking for vintage fisher price toys or anything that I used to play with when I was a kid. Then it is off to the books, fabrics and stationary and then to the kitchen section. Cheers Kyla
hmm, depending on where I am usually first check out who else is in there that might be competition for me, if the coast is clear I start at the front and work back, then repeat back to front in case I missed stuff. If there is potential competition then I go to my fave spots first, habby, fabric/manchester, books, kids toys, bric a brac then clothes. It also depends on the opshop. I find that different shops are consistently good for different things so I will start with what is usually good in that shop. Also if I have the kids with me I hope for a good toy section that they will play in. This is now getting way harder as the bigger stores are bagging stuff and sticking it up high :(
What a blast from the past! That fabric you found was what we had as curtains in our old family caravan.....I had forgotten all about it until I saw your photo....thanks for reviving the memory..
