After drafting a cowl necked top for myself yesterday, I sewed it up today. I only need to make a few alterations to the pattern. Otherwise it's great. When I made the pattern, I decided to make it to a standard size. But I have since discovered that my back is a lot narrower than standard sizing that will fit my hips. Oh joy. I added a centre back seam that dipped in a fair bit in the small of my back through to the back of the neck. There goes being able to cut on the fold (I think?), but that's okay.
If you haven't entered my
giveaway, have a look... it ends this Friday.

The neck detail looks great, nice job.
OK, That pattern-making course has been bumped closer to the top of that list again. That neckline is WONDERFUL.
that is looking fab! I am totally into cowl neck details, but have no idea how to put one in. I was studying your draft from yesterday and think it looks rather technical.
That really looks fabulous - love it! It's such a beautiful soft look - very flattering. You are so lucky... I have a wider back than usual... getting ready for my old-age hump! ;) K
Very nice! Cowl necks are a favourite of mine. I love the stripey detail on the inside. We must catch up soon. xx
I love it! and the stripey detail is perfect!
Your top is beautiful. The neckline is perfect.
And yahoo for you for your not-standard body! xxx
It's gorgeous! I have that same problem with the small back thing.
watching your progress in pattern drafting has made me nostalgic for my days in design school!
your cowl top looks great and i LOVE how the stripes on the inside of the top look like a 'blanket stitch' along the outer edge of the neckline =-) WELL DONE!!
What beautiful lines - that looks brilliant. A cowl neck looks hard to draft!
Thanks for letting me know where you do your course - it sounds really wonderful and you are making some lovely stuff. I really want to learn pattern making (I've been reading a book, but its a bit dry!). Not much time to escape the kids at the moment, so I'm looking at her online version (I wonder how that would go??)
Oh Congratulations to you, that neck line look fantastic!!
Nice work. The neckline is really lovely! I find making clothes for myself so tedious but if you take the time on the details it is usually worth it!
P.s.Thanks for dropping by my blog and entering my giveaway. :)
